Orōnaki Kāinga has been the first housing development from Ngāti Rangi, completed in 2024.

Four new three-bedroom whare in Ohakune have become affordable rental properties for whānau, addressing the lack of affordable healthy homes in the rohe.

Developed by our commercial arm, Te Kūmete o Paerangi, Orōnaki (of Ronaki, a tupuna of the Rangataua block) are part of the Ngāti Rangi He Pā Tū He Pā Ora housing rautaki (2023).

The whare are:

• Homestar 6 rated homes
• Fully insulated to a higher level than required within the Building Code along with double glazed windows
• Heated with a 7.1kw heat pump in the lounge, a bathroom heater and wall panel heaters in each of the bedrooms.
• Each of the houses exceeds the current Building Code healthy homes provisions.

With Ka Uruora rental rebates, averaging 20% off the market rent depending on household incomes and eligibility criteria, we aim to support whānau in meeting their housing aspirations, particularly those whānau where there is currently no support available to them.
