Te Moko Ahurea a Paretetaitonga

Elijah Pue

Moko Ahurea are wānanga held to conduct group moko tārua (moko kauae and moko kanohi).  Other iwi know these wānanga as Moko Papa and have become popular in recent times as people commit to the revival of our culture and to celebrate a kaupapa together.

MOKO WĀNANGA - 11-12 AUGUST, RAKETAPAUMA MARAE; PŌWHIRI 4:00PM

There have been a number of discussions and wānanga held to explain this kaupapa and a final wānanga will be held on 11 August at Raketapauma Marae. This is specifically to help those going through and those interested to ask questions and to ready ourselves for the ahurea in September.

MOKO AHUREA – 7-9 SEPTEMBER 2018, RAKETAPAUMA MARAE, PŌWHIRI 4:00PM

The wānanga will be held at Raketapauma as this marae was where our tupuna of the maunga and taihape region would go to for tāmoko based on the resources available near Raketapauma.  On the river the marae where tāmoko was conducted was Pungarehu.

MOKO AHUREA – 25 APRIL 2019, RAETIHI MARAE, PŌWHIRI 9:00AM

MOKO AHUREA – 15-17 MAY, TIRORANGI MARAE, POWHIRI 4:00PM
