Today our Pae Whakakā manager, Joni Takitimu, received the Chief of Defence Force commendation from Air Marshall Tony Davies for "exemplary service deserving of recognition and accomplishment of extraordinary performance of duty over time".

It was a perfect opportunity to honour Joni for the most noble of all sacrifices - the act of service - and was a stunning tribute to her commitment, dedication and aroha.

It was a fabulous ceremony at Rongomaraeroa o nga hau e wha in Waiouru.

While the commendation referred to Joni's service with the New Zealand Defence Force as a recovery coordinator, we know that same commitment and dedication is seen in her work with Whānau Ora ; her tautoko during the Covid years and her absolute passion to serve way beyond the call of duty.

EXEMPLARY: classic, excellent, superb, exceptional, perfect, unique, wonderful
