I te 19 ki te 20 o Hepetema i tēnei tau, i hui ai ngā iwi e rua a Uenuku me Ngāti Rangi ki te whiriwhiri me pewhea te whakatau i to tātau whanaungatanga me ngā take Tiriti e tū nei ki mua i te aroaro ō ēnei iwi e rua.

Uenuku Charitable Trust and Ngāti Rangi Trust are uplifted by the work we have been doing to progress discussions about our Areas of Interest, shared areas, wāhi tapu and wāhi tupuna and other matters.   These discussions are ongoing.

As we both progress along this journey to settlement we look forward to also working with our other whanaunga (including our claimant communities) and neighboring iwi. We will continue to wānanga and hikoi to foster our whanaungatanga as Ngā Iwi o Ruapehu.

We are wanting to present to our people updates on our discussions.  We would like to hold hui between now and the end of February next year.  For more information, come to our hui or keep abreast of updates on our websites and social media.

Other key dates that will continue to foster our whanaungatanga going forward are:

  • Kāhui Maunga Festival
  • Tira Hoe Waka o Te Awa o Whanganui
  • Possible hoe waka on Maunganui o te Ao
